
Extensor Carpi Radialis Longus (ECRL) is a muscle found in the posterior compartment of the forearm. It is one of three primary wrist extensors and is most effective when the elbow is extended. The muscle is most visible when the forearm is half pronated and flexing at the elbow against resistance. The extensor tendons enter the dorsum of the hand via six extensor tendon compartments covered by the extensor retinaculum. The extensor digitorum is the main extensor of the fingers.

The extensor carpi radialis longus (ECRL) is a muscle in the forearm that helps control wrist movements. It is one of the five main muscles that control movements at the wrist. ECU originates from the lateral epicondyle of the humerus, the radial collateral ligament, and the posterior border of the ulna. It crosses the forearm to the ulnar (medial) side to insert at the base of the 5th metacarpal on the posterior surface. The muscle is supplied by the radial recurrent artery and the posterior interosseous artery. The ECU is innervated by the posterior interosseous nerve (C7 and C8), a continuation of the deep branch of the radial nerve (C7, C8).

The extensor digitorum muscle, also known as the extensor digitorum communis, is a muscle in the superficial layer of the posterior compartment of the forearm. It is one of the extrinsic muscles of the hand. The extensor digitorum is the most superficial muscle of the posterior forearm, located above the abductor pollicis longus and extensor pollicis longus muscles. This muscle is involved in the anatomy of the grip as it contributes to the opening of the hand and letting go of an object.
The tendon of the extensor digitorum divides into four tendons in the distal forearm, which pass through a separate compartment of the dorsal carpal ligament within a mucous sheath. The tendons diverge on the back of the hand and are inserted into the middle and distal phalanges of the fingers. Opposite the metacarpophalangeal articulation, each tendon is bound by fasciculi to the collateral ligaments and serves as the dorsal ligament of this joint.
