Rectus Abdominis
The rectus abdominis is a long, flat muscle that extends along the whole length of the front of the abdomen, from the rib cage to the pubic bone. It is separated from its fellow on the opposite side by the linea alba, a connective tissue. The external oblique muscle is one of the largest parts of the trunk area. Each side of the body has an external oblique muscle, which is the outermost abdominal muscle. The external oblique muscles cover the sides of the abdominal area, extending from the lower half of the ribs around and down to the pelvis. It is a small, triangular muscle, located at the base of the pubic bone, in front of the rectus abdominis. The pyramidalis is part of the anterior abdominal wall and is contained within the rectus sheath.
